FTHS Donates 2,350 Pounds of Food This Holiday Season
Tis the season for giving at Freehold Township High School!
The school’s Octagon Club under the direction of English teacher Melissa LaPlaga ran a food drive to benefit the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Homerooms competed against one another to collect the most food.
In total 2,350 lbs. of food was collected for the food bank. English teacher Kerry O’Neill’s first-period class collected the most food and earned a bagel breakfast.
The Octagon Club is focused on community service activities. The club provides an opportunity for members to participate in fundraisers, walk-a-thons, volunteering opportunities at hospitals and other special activities.
The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties awarded local schools for their participation in their Students Change Hunger campaign.Freehold Township High School received the Comeback Kid Award.
