Empty Bowls Fundraiser at FHS Raises $1,300 for Food Bank
The Freehold High School community came together to raise funds for the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties during the annual Empty Bowls event.
Empty Bowls is an international project that helps fight hunger around the world. Student volunteers in art classes at the high school created beautiful ceramic bowls to sell, while culinary students prepared popular soups to sell in the Five Star Café.
The handcrafted bowls were available for $5 each, while a quart of soup was $6. Soups prepared by the students included butternut squash, cream of broccoli, Jersey tomato, chicken noodle, and vegetarian mushroom barley. Visitors were also able to dine in at the school’s Five Star Café and enjoy dessert along with their soup.
The school’s fundraising efforts brought in $1,300 for the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
