CNHS Senior Named SADD National Student of the Year 2017-2018
Colts Neck High School’s Dylan Mullins has been selected as the SADD National Student of the Year for 2017-2018 term.
SADD, which stands for Students Against Destructive Decisions, is an organization with the goal to empower young people to successfully confront the risks and pressures that challenge them throughout their daily lives. According to their website, SADD accomplishes its goals by creating, equipping, and sustaining a network of student-run chapters in schools and communities focused on peer-to-peer education.
“Your talents and abilities, coupled with your leadership and passion, make you perfectly qualified to hold this important post. I look forward to working with you to deliver SADD’s message of across the country,” SADD President and CEO Dawn Teixeira wrote in a letter announcing Dylan’s appointment.
Dylan will begin to serve in his position at the SADD National Conference in June. As SADD National Student of the Year, the senior will hold a seat on the SADD National Board of Directors and will chair the SADD National Student Leadership Council. Dylan will also serve as the main SADD spokesperson at various conferences and media events.
Dylan will be eligible for a leadership experience at the Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in Washington, D.C. He will also receive the Student of the Year Scholarship for $1,000 at the 2017 SADD National Conference.
